The Holochain Foundation today announced the formation of Holo Ventures, a new entity established to consolidate and lead the commercial activity of the Holochain ecosystem. Cameron Burgess has been appointed its founding Executive Director. Previously he had served as interim Executive Director of Holo Ltd.
Holo Ventures brings the ecosystem's commercial efforts under a single banner. Where the Foundation continues as the philosophical and technical backbone of Holochain, Holo Ventures is chartered to focus on growth: partnerships, revenue, and the products and infrastructure that put Holochain technology to work in the world. The move follows a sustained period of investment in stability and production readiness, and marks a deliberate shift toward more systematically supporting real products and partners in the ecosystem.
Holo Ventures marks the next phase is the maturation of the Holochain ecosystem’s capacity to fulfil our mission of bringing decentralized computing frameworks to the world. Now that the Holochain framework and adjacent open-source tooling, like Unyt and Moss are landing into production readiness, a commercial venture-studio is a natural and crucial part of the ecosystem.
Eric Harris-Braun, Executive Director, Holochain Foundation
Burgess has spent more than three decades helping organizations bridge purpose and profit, with a specific focus on aligning social and environmental impact, impact finance, and technology. With his work trusted by the Gates, Rockefeller, and Bertelsmann Foundations, development agencies including GIZ, SDC, and USAID, and major NGOs including Mercy Corps, Oxfam, and GAVI, he brings substantive experience transforming mission-driven strategy into sustainable growth.
As Executive Director, Cameron will lead Holo Ventures' commercial strategy, partnerships, and go-to-market efforts, working alongside the Foundation and the broader ecosystem. His appointment gives the ecosystem's commercial activity a clear point of leadership and accountability.
Streamlining the flow of information and capital between organisations addressing critical failures in ecological, social and economic systems is what Holochain was designed for. Holo Ventures exists to build the commercial products and services that make that possible — and to back the people already building them on Holochain

The announcement comes ahead of the upcoming HOT-to-HoloFuel Migration, announced on a recent livestream to commence November 1, 2026. Further detail on Holo Ventures' focus and near-term plans will follow.
